The industrial development of Pimpri Chinchwad was started with the established of Hindustan Antibiotic the first pharmaceutical company in the year 1954. On 4 March 1970 late Annasaheb Magar put the founding stone of PCMC.
The twin towns of Pimpri-Chinchwad have long held the reputation of being a prominent industrial region in Maharashtra. What has now caught everyone's attention is the rapid growth the area is registering. A number of international brands - especially from automobile and auto component sectors - are making a beeline to set up their production units here.
The region is registering 15 percent growth annually, according to government officials.
