PCMC has launched its Sustainability Cell within its governance structure which would be a focused unit to carry out initiatives
which are innovative and lead towards sustainable development.

Objectives of the cell

  • To evaluate chosen initiatives taken up by the city from the sustainability perspective
  • To conduct monitoring and tracking of the city’s sustainable interventions
  • Facilitate training and capacity building for the PCMC staff and supporting resources
  • Providing channels to pilot sustainable initiatives in the city and facilitating research and development.
  • Facilitate the functioning of dedicated smaller cells and committees to operate at their capacity to achieve the intended targets
  • A public knowledge repository with data and relevant activities regarding sustainable development in the city
  • Advocacy, awareness and conducting activities and creating hubs for citizen discourse
