EV adoption in Pimpri-Chinchwad has seen exponential growth in the past few months. The EV penetration in the city has grown from 4% in July 2021 to 11% in July 2023. The two-wheeler segment has been the leader in EV adoption in the city, with a mode share of around 90%. Complementing and leading the city’s EV adoption efforts, PMPML has an e-bus fleet of 458 in the Pune urban agglomeration. This is one of the highest-operating bus fleets in any Indian city. The e-auto incentive scheme is expected to increase sales in the city's electric auto-rickshaw segment. Higher daily utilisation (daily distance travelled) makes a more robust economic case for EVs across all vehicle segments.
